I had a great time at the Brewery Vivant and Vault of Midnight Dungeons and Dark Arts 2017 event! That said I'm not sure that Brewery Vivant was very excited about the event. There was no mention of the event this year until just 2-3 weeks prior to the scheduled date? Hard for people to plan on something they don't know anything about. Still people showed up with many in costume. Once again super sponsor Vault of Midnight was there with D&D and maybe some Pathfinder stuff I think? Ward was just as great to work with as last year but I really got the feeling that as much as Ward was into it, the Brewery itself didn't care. I'm basing that on the lack of Facebook posting. Even today if you look at January 22, you'll see an ale release but no mention of a Dungeons and Dark Arts event. I had a rare chance to play Star Wars instead of running it. I played with GM Chris and fellow players Jennifer and Bill. Chris is a really, really, good Star Wars GM. He has a great sense of pace and is very knowledgeable of the Star Wars universe. If you like RPG podcasts I recommend his. Not just for the above reasons but because he goes for radio theater quality and style in his podcasts making them very engaging. (He'll tell you to skip the first season he was just learning how to do it) Check it out here: http://redemption.rpgstuff.net/category/podcasts/ The Gold Stone Ale was great but at 10% this is not a session beer so I stuck with just one and switched back to the Experimental IPAs I was sampling. I've decided cascade hops was my favorite version of that series. And by the end of the night the heroes rescued the artifact and kept the galaxy safe for another day! |
