Brewery Vivant  January 24th, 2016
I had a great time at the Brewery Vivant and Vault of
Midnight Dungeons and Dark Arts event!

Vault of Midnight organized a bunch of D&D games and
I ran a Star Wars game. If you needed some game
supplies, Vault of Midnight was on hand to help you out
so there was technically even a dealer's room for this
event!

There was some really nice artwork for the label contest.
I had a pour of the brew specially made for the contest.
It was in the double digit alcohol range and went down
too smoothly for safety probably...

I really have to say the event felt like Gen Con crushed
into 4 hours. There were great costumes, there was great
beer, there were gamers everywhere.
Brewery Vivant Event Rocked!
I was a little worried when I showed up. There were
many tables that were scheduled for games and I was
thinking there would not be enough players. I'd never
been to an event at a bar like this but I wasn't holding out
much hope that Sunday night would bring a full house of
players.

I met up with a boardgame guy next to me right away
and he agreed to let me in if my game didn't go off.
Turns out there was no issue at all. By the time I grabbed
a stout at the bar and made it back to my table I had
people waiting for the game. A few minutes after that and
the table was totally full as was all of the tables in the
place! I saw the next day that sadly people were even
turned away due to the high number of players.

The beer was flowing and the game took right off in full
swing! The players were just really great people and they
really seemed to get what I was trying to do in the game.
Almost as an afterthought I loaded my tablet with some
images I use for the laptop version of my game. I
included that maps too out of habit. I was surprised how
much we ended up using the maps even though I didn't
have figures to move around on the screen.
We hit the end of the event time and it seemed like everyone pretty much had their
fill and everyone left in a good mood. Definitely hitting that event again next year!
